The City of Nelsonville announces that the following City Council Committees will be holding meetings on Monday, April 6, 2026, at City Hall.

6:00 PM – Judiciary Committee
Duration: 40 minutes

  • Nelsonville City Council rules discussion

6:40 PM – Parks and Recreation Committee
Estimated Duration: 40 minutes

  • Discussion about installing electricity to Polley park buildings
  • Discussion about placing portable toilets at Polley park
  • Discussion about possible VFW project at Crabtree field

Nelsonville Public Sq and adjoining sections of Washington St and Columbus St CLOSED Sat, 4/4/2026, 12PM until 5PM for Easter Egg Hunt, avoid area, use alternative route

The City of Nelsonville will be CLOSING the Public Square and the adjoining sections of Washington Street and Columbus Street on Saturday, April 4, 2026. The streets will be closed and barricaded from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM for the Rooted in Nelsonville Easter Egg Hunt.

The Nelsonville Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM. The Easter Egg Hunt is open to all ages and will have age-appropriate egg hunt sections, and a prize table. The event is sponsored by our generous local businesses.

For everyone’s safety please avoid this area and use an alternative route during the event times.

Buchtel boil order for SR78 / Marrietta Rd to Buchtel limit, SR685, Duncan Dr, N and S Oakley Dr, until 12PM, Mon, 4/6/2026, boil cooking and drinking water three minutes before consuming

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for State Route 78 from Marrietta Road to Buchtel limit, State Route 685, Duncan Drive, and North and South Oakley Drive, in the Village of Buchtel. The boil order is due to a water line break and repair. The boil order will be in effect for these areas until 12:00 PM, Monday, April 6, 2026.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three (3) minutes before being consumed.

Athens Co SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH until 8PM, Wed, 4/1/2026, watch for rapidly changing weather conditions, and seek shelter if needed

The National Weather Service has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for Athens County in effect until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for Severe Thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. People in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe Thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce Tornadoes.
