The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from 7:00PM, Tuesday, 1/9/2024 until 1:00PM, Wednesday, 1/10/2024.

WHAT – Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.

WHERE – Portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, and central, northern, southern and western West Virginia.

WHEN – From 7:00PM, Tuesday, 1/9/2024 until 1:00PM, Wednesday, 1/10/2024.

IMPACTS – Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS – Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

The City of Nelsonville Finance Committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 7:00 PM at City Hall. The meeting is being held to discuss,

  1. Pay and benefits for City Law Director with possible executive session.
  2. An ordinance setting a purchase limit which requires council approval by ordinance.
  3. Determining the number of vehicles to be allocated by ordinance for use by the Police Department, the cost to operate those vehicles, and developing a 5-year spending plan to maintain the upkeep and replacement of those vehicles.  Along with exploration of what Vehicles are currently in use by the police department, and a plan to remove excess vehicles from city ownership.
  4. Outside of the city limit use of all city vehicles, and non-business use, and allowing employees to take vehicles home, and the costs involved.
  5. The spending needs of the Fire Department, and a 5-year capital improvement plan for the Fire Department. Exploring the vehicles in use by the Fire Department and developing a plan to maintain and replace any vehicles and a plan to remove excess vehicles from city ownership.
  6. The pay disparity between the Fire Chief and Police Chief.
  7. Any financial need or concern of the city.

Nelsonville boil order for all customers on Murray Dr, extended until 12PM, Sat, 12/30/23, all affected boil cooking and drinking water for 3 minutes before being consumed

The Nelsonville Water Department has extended the boil order for all customers on Murray Drive until 12:00PM, Saturday, December 30, 2023.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three minutes before being consumed.

Nelsonville Murray Dr water outage, Thu, 12/28/23, 9AM until approximately 2PM, followed by a boil order until 3PM, Fri, 12/29/23

The Nelsonville Water Department will be working on connecting a new water main to Murray Drive, Thursday, December 28, 2023, starting at 9:00AM and lasting until approximately 2:00PM. This work will cause a water outage for customers on Murray Drive until crews complete the project.

Since crews are working on the issue and everyone is aware customers do not need to call in to report it. When water service is restored, there will be a boil order until 3:00PM, Friday, December 29, 2023.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three minutes before being consumed.
