The City of Nelsonville announces that Pine Grove Drive will be closed to traffic from West Washington Street to West Franklin Street, Monday, October 30 through Thursday, November 2, 2023, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00PM each day. The roadway will be open to local traffic and emergency vehicles and school buses. The roadway is being closed so that crews can replace a water line. Nelsonville/ Buchtel Water Outage 10/27/2023, 9AM to 3PM, Nelsonville water customers west of US33 overpass on Burr Oak BLVD and Village of Buchtel
The Nelsonville Water Department will be working on installing a new water main on Burr Oak Boulevard, Friday, October 27, 2023, starting at 9:00AM and lasting until approximately 3:00PM. This work will cause customers in the area a water outage until crews complete the repair. Areas affected are.
- Nelsonville water customers west of the US Route 33 overpass on Burr Oak Boulevard
- The Village of Buchtel
Since crews are working on the issue and everyone is aware customers do not need to call in to report it. When water service is restored, there will be a boil order until 12:00PM, Sunday, October 29, 2023.
When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three minutes before being consumed.

Nelsonville Trick-Or-Treat; Beggar’s Night rescheduled to Sat, 10/28/23, 6:30PM to 7:30PM
The City of Nelsonville announces that Trick-Or-Treat; Beggar’s Night will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 6:30PM to 7:30PM. It is important to use caution and plan ahead. Decisions on whether to participate should be made by individuals, and parents/guardians.
To help ensure adults and children have a safe Halloween, the City of Nelsonville has compiled a list of Halloween safety tips. Before Halloween arrives, be sure to choose a costume that will not cause safety hazards.
- Carry hand sanitizer and use it often, especially after coming into contact with frequently touched surfaces and before eating candy.
- If taking your children trick-or-treating, limit the number of houses you visit and ask your children to stay as far from treat-givers as possible. For small children, consider holding the bag for them.
- Wipe off candy wrappers with sanitizing wipes when you arrive home. (NOTE: Never wipe unpackaged food with wipes.)
- Allow children to eat only factory-wrapped treats. Avoid homemade treats made by strangers.
- Stay home if you or your child feels sick, has symptoms of COVID-19 or is at high risk of complications.
- All costumes, wigs and accessories should be fire-resistant.
- Avoid masks, which can obstruct vision.
- If children are allowed out after dark, fasten reflective tape to their costumes and bags, or give them glow sticks.
- When buying Halloween makeup, make sure it is nontoxic and always test it in a small area first.
- Remove all makeup before children go to bed to prevent skin and eye irritation.

- A responsible adult should accompany young children on the neighborhood rounds.
- If your older children are going alone, plan and review a route acceptable to you.
- Agree on a specific time children should return home.
- Teach your children never to enter a stranger’s home or car.
- Instruct children to travel only in familiar, well-lit areas and stick with their friends.
- Tell your children not to eat any treats until they return home.
- Children and adults are reminded to put electronic devices down, keep heads up and walk, do not run, across the street.
- Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while driving in the Nelsonville area and watch for the children during this time period.

The City of Nelsonville Street Department will start curbside leaf pick-up on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, and continue every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday until Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Leaf pick-up will depend on the weather conditions.
Follow these steps for curbside leaf pick-up.
- Rake leaves to curbside, DO NOT include branches, sticks, grass clippings or tall grass. These can clog and damage the equipment and cause delays. City crews will not be raking any leaves.
- DO NOT rake leaves into the street. This can clog storm drains.
- DO NOT pile leaves around fire hydrants, street signs or utility poles.
- DO NOT PARK in front of leaf piles on pick-up days.
- When your leaves are curbside and ready, schedule curbside leaf pick-up by using Nelsonville’s “TextMyGov, text “Hi” to 740-265-3858 and a series of texts will guide you through the reporting process, or call, 740-753-1314, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.
Nelsonville Dog Park receives $2,500 grant from Nelsonville Community Foundation, Thank You!
The Nelsonville Dog Park Board is pleased to announce that the City of Nelsonville has received a $2,500 grant from the Nelsonville Community Foundation. We would like to thank the Nelsonville Community Foundation for supporting the Nelsonville Dog Park, and helping to make a place where pets and people can come together to spread the joy and share the love with wagging tails, smiling faces and new friends every day!
The Nelsonville Dog Park Board is continuing to work on funding the dog park and planning for its construction and operation.
