The City of Nelsonville announces that AEP Ohio is planning an electrical service pole replacement project on Madison Street from West Washington Street north to the city limits. Work will begin on Monday, July 15, 2024, and last until all work is completed. The work will result in single lane closures and total road closures.

Madison Street will have single lane traffic on Monday, July 15, 2024, until Friday, July 19, 2024. Work will take place from 8:00AM until 4:00PM daily. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

The City of Nelsonville announces that Fort Street between Washinton Street and Franklin Street has been closed until further notice due to a sinkhole in the roadway. Crews are working on the problem, but do not have an estimate for completion of repairs. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

The City of Nelsonville announces that the asphalt paving on Fort Street will be extended to Monday, July 8, 2024, due to incoming bad weather. Fort Street, from Washington Street to Scott Street will have no on street parking from 8:00AM until 5:00PM, Monday, July 8, 2024. The parking ban is in effect so that crews can perform asphalt paving to the road surface. Expect delays, please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

The City of Nelsonville announces that Burr Oak Boulevard between East Canal Street and Hillside Drive will be closed to traffic on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 8:00AM until Friday, July 12, 2024, at 5:00PM. The roadway is being closed to prepare and pave the trench from the water line replacement project. This will not get a full paving of the roadway; a total paving of the roadway will be done as part of a paving project in the spring of 2025 along with Canal Street. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency!
