The City of Nelsonville Water Department has canceled the boil order for water customers East of Burr Oak Boulevard, Hocking College and parts of York Township. We would like to thank those affected by this incident for their patience and understanding.

The Nelsonville Parks and Recreation Committee will hold a meeting on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 3:00 PM in council chambers at City Hall. The meeting is being held to discuss a long-term plan for the Nelsonville Aquatic Center budget. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The City of Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order until further notice for;
Boil orders are put into place as a result of broken water lines or local flooding. When this happens, the drinking water may have been contaminated which can cause many illnesses.

The Nelsonville Police Department is sponsoring two local fundraising drives to assist with local youth educational programs. Representatives from two different groups will be visiting local businesses over the next 30 days to ask for their assistance with the programs.
L.A.W. Publications is working with Nelsonville Police on their ongoing crime prevention, safety education and substance abuse programs.
Creative Safety Products is working with Nelsonville Police on the Officer Phil Child Safety Program for its 20th year in Nelsonville. The Officer Phil program is for kindergarten through third grade children students.

The Nelsonville Utility and Finance Committees will hold a joint meeting on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Nelsonville City Hall. The meeting is being held to discuss the proposed sewer project. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The Nelsonville Street Department announces that the East bound lane of East Washington Street will be closed from the Public Square to Jefferson Street on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Please use an alternate route.

May is Older Americans Month across the nation. Athens County is highlighting this celebration with Athens County Senior Safety Day on Thursday, May 18th at the Athens County Fairgrounds, 286 West Union Street in Athens, from 10:00AM to 2:00PM. Many groups from around Athens County have been working for months to plan a fun and informational event for everyone.
