The following incident has been listed by Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous as the August, 2018 Crime of the Month.

The Athens Police Department is requesting your information pertaining to a crime which occurred in the City.

On July 28, 2018, between noon and 1:30 PM, three unknown black males entered Wal-Mart, which is located at 929 E. State St., using a stolen credit card, and purchased a large amount of gift cards. After leaving Wal-Mart in Athens, the three travelled to Logan, Ohio and again repeated this activity in the Wal-Mart store there.  One of the males was apprehended in Logan, Ohio while the other two absconded.  Law Enforcement is seeking to identify the other two individuals involved in this offense. Please see the attached photographs.  The board is offering a $2000 reward for information on this crime.

Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous is offering a cash reward for information on the above crime if that information leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible. *Information on serious misdemeanors will be limited up to a $1000.00 cash reward.  **Any information that leads to the arrest of an individual responsible for graffiti, the board can authorize up to a $500.00 cash reward. The City of Nelsonville is accepting letters of interest for the position of Council Clerk. The Clerk will be expected to;

  1. Attend regular and special City Council meetings
  2. Prepare the City Council meeting minutes
  3. Prepare the City Council meeting agenda
  4. Record the ordinances and resolutions
  5. Perform other duties as assigned

This is a part-time position that will remain open until filled.

Nelso Council Special Meeting

The Nelsonville City Council will hold a special Council meeting on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 7:00 PM in Council Chambers at City Hall.  The meeting is being held to discuss:

  1. Police Union negotiations update
  2. Land acquisition for a new sewer plant site
  3. Pay increases for the Fire Department and non-union employees
  4. Public comment following executive session

Nelsonville Jefferson St one lane traffic E Columbus St to M.E. St, Sat, 7/28/18, 7AM to 5PM, please avoid this area

 

 

Nelso One Lane Road

The City of Nelsonville announces that Jefferson Street will be reduced to one lane traffic from East Columbus Street to M.E. Street, Saturday, 7/28/2018 from 7:00AM until 5:00PM.  The roadway is being closed by R&R Pipeline for a gas line repair.  The City of Nelsonville apologizes for any inconvenience this project may cause.  Please avoid this area.
