The City of Nelsonville reminds residents that since September 24, 2026, the Nelsonville City Code Section 76.03, Continuous Parking in Same Location, has been amended to allow continuous on street parking of up to 72 hours.
Code Section 76.03, Continuous Parking in Same Location
(A) No owner, agent, operator, or other person in charge of any vehicle shall permit the vehicle to remain parked, standing, or abandoned on any street for a continuous period longer than 72 hours, after which time the vehicle is subject to ticketing and/or removal.
1) The vehicle must be moved every 72 hours.
2) The vehicle must be moved no less than one space, or vehicle length, from the starting position to the next available and legal parking space.
The parking enforcement of 72 hours before a vehicle must be moved is now in full effect. If a resident is going on vacation (vacation only) and is gone longer than 72 hours, they can call the police department to alert them of the days that they will be gone so that their vehicle will not be ticketed or towed during that time.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding with this change in city code.
