The City of Nelsonville announces that the following City Council Committees will be holding meetings on Monday, August 5, 2024, and Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at City Hall.

Monday, August 5, 2024

  • 6:00PM – STREET COMMITTEE, (1 Hour)
    • Additional paving projects for 2024, and 2025. Also, for immediate attention, Bessemer Road paving, and Fort Street funding of $25,000 for sinkhole
    • 5 Year paving plan
    • Alley improvement plan
    • Storm drains plan
    • Discuss Railroad crossings in city
    • Rocky Boot Way / September Street, repainting center line
    • The Utility Service Director has proposed the following items.
      • Mill Street – Parking
      • Franklin Street – One way
      • Chestnut Street – Parking
  • 7:00 PM – PARK and RECREATION COMMITTEE, (40 minutes)
    • Gregory Scott Frank (Family) donation of parcels in lieu of fencing
    • Skate Park grant
    • Crabtree Field use
    • Pool performance review report as of 7/31/24
    • Mr. Flowers, invite Jared Tudor from Hocking College to discuss ideas
    • Polley Field; Subject: Pumper Track

  • 5 Year Capital Improvement Plan first draft
  • Annexation Plan. A Resolution to initiate
  • Comprehensive Plan, A Resolution to initiate, funding to come from, the Economic Development Fund
  • Code Enforcement expansion

    • City Manager and Michael Betts to discuss project funding for future projects
  • 6:45PM – JUDICIARY COMMITTEE, (30 minutes)
  • Contract review resolution that was tabled, 49-24.
  • City Manager review form
  • Council vacant seat policy and procedure
  • Review Ordinance 32-15, and discuss ballot initiative petition
  • 7:15PM – FINANCE COMMITTEE
    • Funding for street paving projects 2024
    • Life Insurance benefit renewal
    • Dental benefit renewal
    • Wastewater treatment plant operator of record staffing
    • National Opioid Settlement
    • Appropriations for several line items, including fire truck payment first coming due in October.
    • Compensation of interim City Manager position
    • Appropriations for payment of Buchtel street paving agreement
    • Appropriations for salary increases/contracts
    • 2025 budget discussion
