The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning for Athens County in effect from 6AM, Friday, 12/23/22, until 12PM, Saturday, 12/24/22.

* WHAT…Dangerously cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as 25 below zero. Winds gusting as high as 45mph.

* WHERE…Portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, southwest Virginia and central, northeast, northern, southeast, southern and western West Virginia.

* WHEN… 6AM, Friday, 12/23/22, until 12PM, Saturday, 12/24/22.

* IMPACTS…The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Avoid outside activities if possible. When outside, make sure you wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
