The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Athens County from 7PM, Friday 6/18/2021 until 12PM, Saturday 6/19/2021.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected tonight. Due to high moisture content and repetitive nature over the same area, storms could produce 1 to 2 inches of rain in less than an hour. Even area wide average precipitation could total close to an inch, and locally higher totals of 3 to 4 inches are possible, especially where a storm persists, or multiple storms hit the same location. As a result, flash flooding will be possible, especially in areas with saturated soils from heavy rain in recent days.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
