Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Athens County for Tuesday, 1/29/19 from 1AM until 5PM.

  • WHAT – Rain changing to snow. Rapidly falling temperatures will create flash freeze conditions. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch expected.
  • WHERE – Portions of southeast Ohio and northeast Kentucky including Athens County.
  • WHEN – From 1 AM to 5 PM Tuesday.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS – Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:

Athens Co Wind Chill Advisory 7PM, Sun, 1/20/19 to 10AM, Mon, 1/21/19, Wind chills as low as 15 below zero expected

Wind Chill Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Athens County from 7PM, Sunday, 1/20/19 until 10AM, Monday, 1/21/19.

  • WHAT – Very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as 15 below zero expected.
  • WHERE – Morgan, Athens, Vinton and Meigs Counties.
  • WHEN – From 7 PM this evening to 10 AM Monday.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS – Travel could be very difficult. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
