The City of Nelsonville is moving from vision to action. Following a successful period of community listening, the City is inviting all residents, business owners, and stakeholders to a hands-on Plan Development Workshop. Unlike traditional town halls, this session puts the pen in the hands of the public to decide exactly what the new City Plan will recommend.
From Ideas to Implementation
Participants will play an active role in the decision-making process, working through real-world trade-offs and prioritizing the specific steps the City and its partners should take to ensure Nelsonville thrives. The workshop is designed to transition broad goals into a concrete roadmap for the coming years.

A Call for Collaborative Leadership
The workshop aims to foster a sense of shared ownership over the city’s direction. By participating, attendees aren’t just giving feedback, they are co-authoring the strategies that will guide local investment, policy, and community development.
“A plan is only as strong as the community’s commitment to it,” says Della Rucker, AICP, CEcD. “This workshop is the moment where we move past talking about what we like and start deciding what we are actually going to do. We need your unique perspective to ensure these recommendations are practical, ambitious, and truly reflective of the people who call Nelsonville home.”
About the Planning Process
The Nelsonville City Plan is a comprehensive effort to align the goals of the municipality with the needs of its citizens. The recommendations generated during this workshop will serve as the backbone for the final plan, influencing how the City and its partners allocate resources to improve quality of life and economic resilience.
