The City of Nelsonville announces that all City offices will be closed Monday, January 26, 2026, due to the severe winter weather.

Athens County is currently under a LEVEL 3 Snow Emergency. All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel, or a personal emergency exists. Please use extreme caution if you must travel.

What you can do to help

  • Move parked cars from the street
  • Stay home and stay safe.
  • Be patient as Nelsonville city crews clear the snow
  • Remove snow and ice from your sidewalk and check on neighbors.
  • In the event of any power outages, go to: https://www.aepohio.com/outages/report/ to report the outage right away.
  • DO NOT call 9-1-1 to ask about road and weather conditions. Only use 9-1-1 for emergencies.
