The City of Nelsonville is accepting letters of interest and resumes for the position of city auditor. The position responsibilities are as follows:
- The City Auditor is a Full-time non-partisan position making $60,000 per year.

- The position includes the following benefits:
- The charter requires a candidate to be a resident and qualified elector for one (1) year before the election. So effectively, qualified candidates should be a resident/elector before November of 2024.
- There is an expectation that the candidate will be available for shadowing and training before the 9-1-25 start date.
- The position will be responsible for a range of duties
- Maintaining the City’s accounting books and ledger. Overseeing all revenue into the City and all expenses out of the city, except Mayor’s Court which is managed elsewhere
- Check writing and meticulous record keeping for accounts payable
- Payroll processing
- Managing the annual audit
- Benefits and pension management
- Managing and supervising the collection and processing of the City’s 1.75% income tax.
- Representing the City at a range of public and regional events and trainings
- Reporting to council monthly
- A range of annual, quarterly, and monthly report generation and submission to a long list of state, federal, and partner agencies
- Managing 3 full time staff members
- Fiduciary duty to the City taxpayer and financial advisor to the City Council
- A range of other duties and responsibilities.
- The candidate must produce a $1,000,000 public service bond to take the position. The costs of the bond policy are to be paid by the City.
