The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WATCH for Athens County from 7:00AM, Sunday, January 5, 2025, through 7:00PM Monday, January 6, 2025.
WHAT – Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 9 inches and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch possible.
WHERE – Portions of southeast Ohio which includes Athens County, and central and northern West Virginia.
WHEN – From 7:00AM, Sunday, January 5, 2025, through 7:00PM Monday, January 6, 2025.
IMPACTS – Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.
