
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Athens County until 2 PM Saturday, April 29, 2017.
Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected through the morning. Some areas within the watch have already received around an inch of rainfall, with an additional 1 to 2 inches expected where repetitive storms occur.
In these localized areas, fast rises on creeks and streams and streams is expected to lead to potential flash flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS; A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
