The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Athens County until 415 AM, Wednesday, March 1, 2017

At 347 AM EST, a severe thunderstorm was located over Lake Hope State Park, moving east at 60 mph.

  • HAZARD…70 mph wind gusts.
  • SOURCE…Radar indicated.
  • IMPACT…Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to
  • mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS; For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
