Nelsonville Police Department Search Warrants Result in Three Arrests

On Thursday November 13, 2014 the Nelsonville Police Department assisted by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office and the Athens Major Crimes Unit Executed two (2) search warrants in connection with several ongoing investigations into recent aggravated burglaries. In the early hours of the day, search warrants were executed at 822 Poplar Street and 1000 East Canal Street, Apartment G-2 in Nelsonville.

Several persons were detained and interviewed at each location. Items of evidence including clothing and cellular phones were recovered as evidence at the Poplar Street residence. At the East Canal Street residence evidence related to the ongoing investigations including clothing, cellular phones and a “sawed off shotgun” were recovered. Evidence of illegal drug trafficking was also recovered at the location. An additional warrant for those items was obtained. The illegal drug evidence recovered included suspected cocaine, suspected marijuana, digital scales, drug packaging materials and cash.

Two (2) persons were arrested from the East Canal Street location. William J Stivison, age 18 was charged with aggravated burglary. Jaylin Conley, age 19 was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice. Additional charges related to illegal drug sales are expected to result from the drug evidence recovered at this location as well.

Interviews with persons from each scene lead to locating and arresting Roshawn Waldren, age 20 for aggravated burglary at 443 High Street in Nelsonville.

These events and the investigations leading up to them underscore the connection between violent crime and the trafficking and use of illegal drugs in our region.
